This Crown Seating project is the result of a collaboration of people from many different fields working together to envision how to best inhabit Melbourne's Southbank. Commissioned by Crown Casino this seating project is the result of a collaborative design development between Maurie Novak Architecture & Red Design Group. The group of seats takes the form of an open maze, having nodes and pathways through it, so that the space can be inhabited by groups of people, and so that people can blend in and out of this space from the main path along Southbank. Formally the aim was to have an undulating form that rises and lowers to create sections of differing functionality. This ambitious form was able to be realised through the collaboration of Granicrete Australia who developed methods of forming the seating elements in single pieces from large scale custom molds. Maurie Novak Architecture went on to document the final concepts of Red Design Group, and work closely with the builders throughout the construction process to bring forth the final results.

Townhouses - Orrong Crescent
This is a set of two townhouses which are situated on the corner of Orrong Crescent and Beresford Street in Caulfield North. This project was quite a challenging one, as the brief was to fit three, two bedroom units with double garages on a rather small and asymmetrical corner site. When faced with a challenge like this it can be difficult to give a building form, as there is no superfluous space on the site. By doing small things like defining the line of the staircase and taking glazing up two full stories we are able to bring in light and a uniqueness of form that could otherwise be lost. The awnings and other architectural elements are used to break up the building form with bold dark lines.
Apartment - Dandenong Rd
This project involves bringing new life to an apartment that had seen better days. Whilst there was a beauty to the intense 1970's style that was ingrained in this apartment, there too was a beauty that was waiting under the surface to be revealed. By taking out several walls and reconfiguring the apartment we were able to give it new charecter and bring light through the living area. By including some unique built in furniture and beautiful new fixtures, this apartment when completed will be ready to face a new phase of its existance.
